It's Hunt Season for Huck and Douglass!

Both Douglass and Huck returned home to Sarah Reese's farm, Westerly, this week. We enjoyed having these wonderful horses visit us for the summer, but now it is time for them to return home for the fox hunting season!
Huck and Mackenzie

Mackenzie Boyer had a wonderful time showing Huck in the Pre-Adult division with much success, and Douglass enjoyed being well loved by the students at Foxtale Farm.  A special thanks to Lindsey Crawford, who spent lots of time making sure Douglass felt spoiled!
Lindsey and Douglass
While we're sure these good boys enjoyed some ring time over the past few months, we're certain they're eager to get back home and out in the hunt field with Sarah and Ellen! Many thanks to these ladies for letting us enjoy Huck and Douglass this summer!"

ANNUAL LCHS & ED WINS!!

Best Daddy's Helper Award goes to Camilla!
The Foxtale Farm crew survived another typical rainy Ludwig's Corner weekend. We lucked out Saturday with beautiful sunny skies, but had to endure relentless rain showers on both Sunday and Monday. The horses and riders were troopers, and didn't let the gray clouds ruin their good time.

Abby Brauer and Frost were champion in the Baby Green Hunter, Mackenzie Boyer and Huck were champion in the Low Adult Hunter, Maren Nordhoy and Pete were champion in the Low Children's Hunter and Bugsy in the Novice Hunter.  Hannah Fisher was champion in the Children's Hunter and won the Children's Medal, securing Hannah as Best Child Rider on a Horse, and Kendal Thomas was reserve champion in the Short Stirrup Eq and Hunter divisions on Rocket Man.  Despite the rain, it was a great weekend and everyone pulled together as a team to make the hectic schedule work.  All the kids rode very well & we're proud of their efforts.  Many thanks to Deb and Pat Patterson for bringing sandwiches and drinks for everyone on Sunday!

We've had a bit of entertainment back at the barn as well!  Resident barn dad, Ed Conway, recently made a bet with his daughter Bella that he would be able to post in his very first riding lesson. Bella, as well as some other young ladies in the barn, assured him that it couldn't be done, so Ed stepped up to the plate to challenge her.

Karen Pollack was kind enough to lend us her horse Abs for Ed's first lesson. Ed had quite an audience for the event, complete with a videographer (Stephanie) and wine and cheese for the adults (provided by Rick). We're proud to share that Ed did a great job, and indeed managed to post by the end of the lesson! We love that Ed is willing to try new things and push himself to set a good example for Bella! What a great life lesson.

Ed tells Linda, "Bring on 3'6!". Maybe not yet, but perhaps Daddy Leadline at Ludwig's 2013 could be on the horizon?

IT'S BEEN AN EVENTFUL SUMMER!

It's been a very busy summer at Foxtale Farm with three summer camps and lots of horse shows.  We've had some new faces in the barn, as well as our regular dedicated crew of students, working students and parents.

Julianna Empie and her pony Darby joined us for the summer months, as well as Jess Patterson and her pony Shania. We also welcomed a new kitten named Cricket. She got right to business letting everyone know she owns the place.

Our three camps kept us very busy with both new and regular students. The kids enjoyed days filled with riding, learning new skills, and some down time in the afternoons that included some exciting water balloon fights and a homemade slip and slide.

After an enjoyable and active summer, we’re looking forward to setting goals for the coming year and settling into our steady fall routine.......but over the next few weeks we're going to wrap up the summer with Radnor and the annual tradition at the Ludwig's Corner Horse Show.  See you there!!

Grace Mayberry on Interlude

Grace Mayberry has been riding since she was four years old with her family. She joined Foxtale Farm in early January 2012 and is currently competing in the CCHSA show series.
With the help of Linda as her trainer, she has come a long way in a short amount of time. She has collected several ribbons this season and even a Grand Champion title under her little belt. She enjoys showing in the Short Stirrup and Pleasure Pony Divisions aboard Foxtale's Farnley Interlude. Grace and Interlude have a great partnership and work well together, as Interlude has introduced so many little girls to horse showing!

We welcome Grace into the riding program at Foxtale Farm!!

EPPHA BANQUET!

This past weekend the EPPHA banquet was held at the Rivercrest Country Club in Oaks, PA. and it was a fabulous event!  The facility was decked out with the table centerpieces being  "topiaries" made from horse show ribbons. The dinner was buffet style with caesar salad, roasted red potatos, green beans, chicken parmesan, salmon, and beef. They also had a yummy dessert table with bite sized cakes, eclairs, and cream puffs.
There was a basket auction with lots of goodies. Our crew found themselves quite lucky: Linda won a wine and cheese basket (how perfect!); Traci Fisher won a stunning sterling silver horse show pendant; Keilly Kirkpatrick went home with a basket of assorted brushes, grooming supplies, and goodies for her ponies; and Emily DiMaggio won a beautiful wooden grooming box with assorted grooming supplies inside.
The awards for Foxtale Farm riders were as follows:

MacKenzie Boyer and Coldshot: 3rd in Pre-Children's Horses 15-17
Hannah Fisher and Eccho: 4th in Pre-Children's Horses 14 & Under
Maren Nordhoy and Wishful Thinking: Reserve Champion in Pre-Children's Horses 15-17
Alexandra DiMaggio and Farnley Designer: Reserve Champion in Green Pony Hunter
Emily DiMaggio and Cailliou: 3rd in Children's Small/Medium Ponies
Julianna Empie and Silver Buttons: Reserve Champion in Pre-Children's Small/Medium Ponies
Keilly Kirkpatrick and Caribbean Cruise: Champion in Pre-Children's Small/Medium Ponies
Jessica Patterson and Tristan's Shania: 6th in Pre-Children's Large Ponies

The champion and reserve riders went home with some gorgeous prizes. Keilly won a lovely wooden saddle rack/tack trunk combo and Alex DiMaggio won a wooden bridle rack. I believe Maren received an embroidered vest?

It was quite a fun evening!
