End of Year Horse Show Update!

We're heading into the holidays but the crew at Foxtale Farm was on the road horse showing!
Kay Larkin had a great weekend, taking the Championship ribbon in the Adult Amateur division on Roosevelt (aka Theo) at Our Farm.  Congratulations Kay!!

On Sunday both Alex and Emily stepped up a division at the Hidden River show.  Alex showed Farnley Designer (Fendi) in the Large Pony division & Emily moved Caillou up to the Medium Green Pony division.  Both girls had an excellent start to the new year at the show.

Here's wishing everyone in the Foxtale Farm community a wonderful holiday and a great 2012!

Fall Fun at Our Farm!

It was an especially fun day for this Mom/website designer & blogger, who rarely gets to spend the day with the Foxtale Farm crew at a horse show!!  I packed up one furry grey pony & one excited daughter to join Linda & crew yesterday at Our Farm.

All the kids had a successful day in the indoor, with Keilly taking the Championship ribbon and MacKenzie taking Reserve in the Pre-Children's combined division.  It was my first opportunity to watch MacKenzie on her fabulous new horse, James,  and they truly are a great new match!  I also understand that prior to my arrival, Emily did a great job riding Caillou in her earlier pony division.

Kendal stepped up from the Short Stirrup division to ride against the bigger kids in the Modified Hunters.  This was her first horse show doing 3 full, back to back courses, and I was so proud of she & little Rocket Man, who jumped so well & took home Reserve!

We headed home around 2, while Linda was in for the long haul with several more divisions before heading home herself.  It was a great treat to have Katie home for the weekend, riding Joker to the Adult Amateur championship and proving that time off to work retail has not hurt her riding ability!

Linda's getting us cranked up for the indoors, and who knows, maybe I'll be trading in my event coat for a winter of indoor hunter/jumper shows!  LT

Summer Wrap Up!

SmartPhone Link

Foxtale Farm had yet another busy summer with pony camp, horse shows and preparing for the USEF Pony Finals in Lexington, Ky!  We had several new kids at pony camp and a couple newcomers to the horse show world with Alix Wilson riding Sashay in the Jr. Beginner Rider & Modified Hunter divisions and Grace Gdowik riding Picture Perfect (Mariah) in the Jr. Beginner Rider division as well.

The 2011 USEF Pony Finals was an exciting trip with several of our riders qualified & traveling with Linda down to Lexington, Ky. to ride against the best in the country!  Out of 74 Large Green ponies,  Alex DiMaggio riding her own Final Designer was 9th over fences & 9th overall, and Hannah Fisher, riding Sequoia's JJ Flyer, was 17th over fences & 21st overall.   Alex also won the Best Presented Pony award in the model class for the entire division!

In addition, Emily DiMaggio competed in the Small Green Hunter Pony Division on Redfield Farm's Page 6, where she was 5th in the model, 12th under saddle & 21st overall.   Our jumper team also had a great showing at Pony Finals with Nicole Kehrli on Northwind's Opus,  Lauren Anatassio on Rascal and Alyssa Kurtz riding Captain.  A special thanks to Maria DiMaggio, Traci Fisher, Sloan Fisher, Shannon Kozik and Maren Nordhoy for all of their hard work and to Laurie and Keilly Kirkpatrick for coming to support out team!

As always, the annual Labor Day show at Ludwig's corner was extremely busy again this year with approximately 20 students competing with Foxtale Farm in multiple divisions from Leadline through the Jumpers.  We want to congratulate all of our competitors who rode so well, and although it would be tough to list of all our results, we want to mention a few of the highlights:

Our huge cheer goes out to our resident photographer and groom extraodinaire, Shannon Kozik, who was Champion in the Adult Beginners on her new horse Cort!  Chelsea Thompson was Reserve in the Chester County Hunters on (sister Bernie's pony) Pendermere Legacy, our youngest competitor Isabella Conway was the Leadline Reserve Champion on Twilight's Whisper, Emily DiMaggio was Reserve Champion in the 13 and Under Eq. on Cailliou, Nicole Kehrli was Reserve Champ in the 14 - 17 Eq.  on LJS Red Deco & won the Schooling Pony Jumper Class & the Child Adult Jumper Classic! Whew!!

A special thanks to Shannon Kozik, Abbie Brauer and Jess Patterson for their tireless efforts grooming the entire weekend....and for all the friends and parents who come out to support all of our riders at the area's largest local show!

We hope you enjoy the slideshow of pictures from these two shows & will continue to add photos from Pony Camp & our fall shows to our blog & website. Check back soon for more updates!!

Alexandra DiMaggio & Farnley Designer “Fendi” - Large Green Pony Hunters
Hannah Fisher on Sequoia’s JJ Flyer “JJ” -  Large Green Pony Hunters
Emily DiMaggio on Page 6, aka “Fire” - Small Green Pony Hunters

We’d like to thank Emil Spadone & Redfield Farm for giving Emily the opportunity to compete Fire and Penny Silcox and Sequoia Lane Farm for Hannah's opportunity aboard JJ!

The Pony Jumper Riders will also be out in full force representing the pony club team at finals!  Good luck to Nicole Kehrli on Northwinds Opus, Lauren Attanasio on Rascal, and Alyssa Kurtz on Captain.

There's some exciting news in the barn with the recent in house purchases of two of our home breds -   Adele Grady has purchased Bacchus and Shannon & Joe Kozik have purchased Cort.  We are so happy to see both these partnerships come to fruition and for these horses to stay in our barn!

Rider Spotlight: Shannon Kozik!

Shannon on CortShannon Kozik is a rider from Reading, PA who has been with Foxtale Farm since 2001. During her time with us, Shannon has spent her weekends working as a show groom for Linda and enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure things go smoothly on show days.

Shannon is currently leasing Cort, a young Thoroughbred-Cleveland Bay cross who is a homebred from Linda's parent's farm in Va. She enjoys bringing him along with the help of Linda and Katie, and hopes to begin showing him soon in the Baby Greens.

Spring Announcements!

It's been a busy spring around Foxtale Farm, which is refreshing after the winter we all endured!  The kids have been getting back into a regular lesson program and the show season is in full swing with St. Christopher's this coming weekend and Devon right around the corner.

Nicole Kehrli has a new partnership with LJS Red Deco, a 7 yo, 17.2 h.,  Zweibrücker (Rheinland Pfalz-Saar) owned by Joanne Nuscher.  Nicole started leasing him in December and previously he was shown extensively on the line in Hunter Breeding by his owner (while at Emily Belin's), and spent 6 months last year in training with Doug King and showing in the baby greens and intro jumpers.  Nicole and Red have started in the Pre-Preliminary Jumpers (.85m), showed twice in Schooling (1.0m) and plan to continue their season in the Children's Jumpers.

Nicole has applied and been accepted into the USHJA Emerging Athlete's Program on Red, which is an exciting opportunity for them both!

" The mission of the Emerging Athletes Program (EAP) is to develop complete horsemen by implementing a system of identifying and nurturing talented young riders and providing them with support and assistance in achieving their full potential. This program creates opportunities for young riders to advance their education in their pursuit to become professionals within our industry.  Participants in the 2011 EAP Level I Training Sessions will be selected based on the information provided in the application, including but not limited to merit, competition record and recommendations.  Each Zone holds a Level I training session.  The Zone 2 session is held at Centenary College in Long Valley, NJ."

The DiMaggio family continues to dedicate so much time & effort to their riding endeavors, with Alex and Farnley Designer (aka Fendi) qualifying for the 2011 USEF Pony Finals in the Large Green Pony Division.  Way to go Alex!!

We've also had some wonderful results at our recent horse shows.  A big thanks to Karen Pollock who has recently given MacKenzie the opportunity to show Abs this spring, who has come out of "retirement" to bring home two Championships at their first two shows in the Modified Hunter divisions!
Our smaller competitors have also started out their season with impressive results.  Keilly and Flash were Champion in the Pre-Children's Pony Division at Kimberton and also went home with the high point Pony Hunter award.  Kendal and Rocket Man also had a fabulous time at the Classic Oaks show at Ludwig's, bringing home Champion in both the Shortest Stirrup and Short Stirrup Hunters, to claim the Grand Champion Short Stirrup award & a ton of loot!!
We'll have more updates after St. Christopher's and good luck to all of our riders.

2010 PHSA Awards Banquet!

Congratulations to all of our PHSA award recipients!
What a great year we had at Foxtale Farm.

The awards banquet has been held the last few years at Longwood Gardens, which is the perfect venue for a crowd that is well over 300!  They really throw a great party with a huge silent auction, the PHSA does a great job of organizing the evening and everyone has a wonderful time.

Our riders all had a fabulous year and their results can be seen on the PHSA website, along with a great photo gallery of the evening, compliments of Brian Livell!
